Make your own - No waste - 5 gallon (25# feed) bucket feeder for about $3

I already have two 4" 45* i was hoping would work so i didn't have to buy anything extra
The problem with the 45 is they will likely still be able to pull some feed out. I have used 45* on 2” ones for chicks and they were able to pull feed out hence defeating the purpose of “no waste” feeder.

Hubby built me one for my chick we ended up using the 2” street elbows since the chicks are 2 weeks old and i was afraid the 3” was too big. So far so good. He also put together the waterer bucket with the nipples so this morning all i had to do was open their door! Lastnight they all went inside their coop by themselves! The night before I had to carry two inside then the others eventually followed. Im crazy in love with them :love

This is a great thread and the 5 gallon bucket feeder is an excellent design.

I'm still feeding starter crumbles (need to switch to pellets with the next feed order) and got a bit of waste. Also, I had some moisture get into the feed from one of the outlets. Some of my holes were less than ideal so...

I made a new feeder with more precise holes and sealed the outside with DAP weatherproof caulk. So far so good!

Just keep an eye on the caulking. May develop mold/mildew after awhile.
