I have 5 four week old muscovy ducklings I'm currently raising. I fed them the last of their duckling crumbles today and didn't get a chance to run by the store to get more like I intended (a crisis came up in the chicken coop). So... I put together a quick batch of something to hold them over in the morning until I get to the store.
It's essentially rolled oats, corn meal, fennel seed, mealworms, and some nutritional yeast, all blended unto infinity. I can't think of any reason it would do them any harm, but what do you guys think? should I mix it with some water before I give it to them? Is there any ingredients I added that are a no-no? Any I'm missing? Is this a bad idea and I ought to just let the babies wait for their proper food?

Again, this is no main staple, this is just an emergency ration until tomorrow evening. I just wanted to double check that all was well 👍
Thanks!

I think your mix would be fine for a night. Do you have layer feed for the chickens? That would be fine for one night as well. The extra calcium is a problem only if they are getting it frequently.
The chickens are currently working their way through a bag of purina all flock, but that comes in pellet form, and I didn't want to risk the choking hazard. I do have a big unopened bag of laying crumble on standby, but I was worried about the calcium content you mentioned.
I suppose one calcium-boosted meal wouldn't hurt... I'll keep that in mind if I miss another store trip in the future so I don't have to run the blender for another slapdash duckling meal :)

Another Idea if you have All Flock is to soak the pellets to make that safer, because you definitely did the right think by thinking about the choking hazard that pellets pose to ducklings.

If you could, "process" the All flock pellet Into crumble. It is safe for ALL stages of ducks..it is my feed of choice for my ducks..Hatch to Maturity. Just offer oyster shell free choice when feeding to adults for females
