Making a Chain-link Chicken Run Look Attractive

I'd also paint it black, it makes it more inconspicuous, then maybe train a jasmine plant up the side and let it grow all over the roof. It will create shade for the birds and make the run smell nice when it's flowering. I highly doubt it would be toxic as people drink infusions of jasmine. You could even put some hanging baskets on the side of it with flowers!

Not sure what you are laughing at, chocolate IS toxic to dogs. Theobromine, look it up. Two mini snickers won't do it, but two hunks of bakers chocolate the same size can kill a ten pound dog. The darker it is, the worse for them. Sensitivity does vary somewhat upon the dog as well.
Sometimes they will just get sick, not die. Just ask my pet sitting client whose jack russell found a 2 lb bag of chocolate chips - luckily they were milk not dark. That dog barfed and had diarreah all over, and I mean ALL over, her white carpet and brand new down comforter. That may have saved her though, since she didnt end up absorbing as much toxin.

As for the grapes and raisins, again there is variation per dog as to how much they can handle. But, they are finding there may be a cumulative effect for those, so while chocolate will get out of their systems, these wont.

Better safe than sorry.

I have black chain link fencing. I am growing grapes, morning glory, and clematis on mine. I also grow 15 foot corn next to it,or attached rolls of reed fencing from home depot. I like the chainlink but I don't like the neighbors looking into my yard. Unfortunately our yard floods with rain,so the wood fencing would have rotted quickly.

Another option is giganticus miscanthus along the fence line. I am getting some this fall to plant. Also pricey but nice is mesh fence cover.Air can go through it,but it gives privacy. I have seen some offered that have prints on them, but I like the black one. I need taller so I am getting the plants.

Matta-- Nice looking pen! I agree with you, then again I'm the more practical type and not the" interior decorator" type.

I think I'm going to try painting our kennels black using a roller. I just did some googling and it looks like there is a specific kind of direct to metal paint to use. I'm getting ready to see if Home Depot has the right kind of paint. If I can manage to get it all done I'll post before and after pictures! I'm repainting my coops also, and adding bamboo reed fencing to my back fence line behind the coops if I can find it in stock.

Here is one season of clematis. If you guide the vines it will cover better.Smells nice too!

So, I decided to go with the most cost-effective chicken run option, a chain-link dog run. Thing is, I hate chain-link anything - I think the stuff is unbelievably ugly. Any suggestions as to how to make the chicken run more pleasing to the eye?

Thanks!!
you could try planting vines to cover the ugliness of your run
