Yep not going to work for ducks they need to clean their nares and eyes out a lot during the day. @DuckyDonna has quite a few examples. Just don’t put food an water inside. Unless they are still under 6 weeks old.

Ok thanksLook at post 2 you can see ducky donnas waterer made out of a bucket. I used buckets I get from the bakery at our grocery store you can cover half so they can’t jump In .
Ok I’ll try thatIf you look behind my Runner you can see my heated buck is half covered with scrap woodView attachment 2127756
Ok that looks great! It’s just a tub with holes? Also, how long do you think they would last for 2 ducks?I made this today. Actually just a couple hours ago. They aren't sure of it yet.
I may have it a bit to high. If they aren't using it in the morning I can make the tote sit in lower.
It is my attempt at cleaner water as well as enough water that I am not refilling 4 times a day.

Ok I think I’ll use that method. Could I also use this method for their food? Not sure since I just made it. It is a tote about 5-6" deep I used a jig saw to cut the holes.
My hope is I can clean it each morning. I KNOW they will make it gross so clean water every day whether it is empty or not.
