Making a diy duck waterer

Ok. Should I use the method of cutting a whole in the bucket so they can only fit their head in?

Whether you cut a hole in a bucket, tote, or have buckets like others posted they will ALWAYS make the water gross.
You will always have to clean the water dish every day. It is just how ducks are with water.

I had a dish this style for my old big dogs (not this exact one) and the underneath tray got gross even with just dogs.
I bet something could be made to have a drop in dog bowl and back/sides out of wood with no enclosed bottom easily enough.
Ok. I’ve actually seen a method of using a large pvc pipe and you add the food and gravity brings the food down kind of like any water thing that tsc sells for water or like people use for cats. It looks like this

I understand I just want to make something that I don’t have to change 3 times a day. I will still give them a tub that they can get inside but that would mostly be just for swimming so I want something that they can always have relatively clean water

Or you could take a 5-gallon bucket or a kitty litter bucket with a cover on it and do something like this where I get very little waste and the cover keeps the rain out for the most part.

I've been using a duck waterer I found at Tractor Supply. It holds a decent amount of water and lets them dunk their entire bill. Each section has a little screened cup inside it to easily fish out shavings or other gunk. They still prefer the nasty tub water, though!
