Making a duck coop

is there a difference when making a duck coop to a chicken coop

I have made 2 chicken coops

and I'm going to be making a duck coop.

and any suggestion?

There's no difference, except a duck coop doesn't need roosts and nesting boxes are optional.

Duck coop doesn't need anything fancy, just shelter (that they hardly use!) I put food in my duck house just so they will know to go in there if they need to. They are out in the rain, out in storms, out in the cold....they like to be OUT! Plenty of duck coop pics on this site. My duck house is on my website if you wanna take a look.....

I agree with ChickenToes that there is little difference between duck and chicken coops. I made my duck coop shorter only because there was no need for the roosts. Here are a couple of pictures. I still need to put shingles on the roof but other than that it is done.

Both doors lead into an open area, about 4x8 with a nest box that is about 2'x6' and about 6 inches high. There is a door on the back of the coop that swings up to allow me access to the inside for egg collection and cleaning.

my ducksmade their own coop. One moved her nest under the frnt steps and the other one kicked the dog out of the doghouse and uses it as a nesting area.

Yes that is bird netting. I thought with the red tailed hawks that swoop through my yard at the wildbird feeders, I had better protect the duckies too.

Actually shortly after I put the netting on, my wife saw a hawk sitting on the ground next to the door, jumping up trying to figure out how to get in. I guess I got it on just in time.

How did you rig up the bird netting? Is that a pre-fab skeleton, or did you just free-form it? I really like how it's high enough so a person doesn't bonk their head.

Great job, everyone, on your cool duck havens.

I built a "Poultry Palace" inside my barn for my 2 ducks and 2 geese (all 4 are just getting feathers), similar to what many people build for their chickens. I have a light in there for them, straw, a waterer and a dish for food and, until I make a cool outside run, I bring in greens for them twice a day.
