Making a hen broody...im desprite

I know most people say you can't make a hen broody, But for those people that have a method to "making" a hen broody....please share, Im really desprite

Please don't post " no, you cant make a hen broody" or anything like that

What kind of hens do you have? I'm sure you know that the brooding instinct has been completely bred out of some breeds. If you have a broody breed, there are some things you can do to encourage her natural instincts.

With mine, all I needed to do was stop collecting eggs from the nestbox. When the right size clutch had accumulated for my bantam breed (around 8 or 9 eggs), a hen would begin to set them. Worked this way three times in a row. That's pretty much how it would work in nature with a wild chicken, too.

It does depend on the breed. I have some ceramic nest eggs that I put on a nest. Once a hen becomes interested, and really sitson them for a few days, I replace the ceramic eggs with the ones I want hatched.

If you are really desperate, why not get an incubator?

However you might try putting wooden eggs in the nests and just leave them there. I do that and man I've had to many broodies. Four the last time and I only got three hens! (just kidding). Eight in less than 2 years. (use wooden eggs the color of your birds eggs).

Im starting to doubt that there's any cochin in my "cochin' ( from a hatchery)

no matter what i do she NEVER wants to stay on eggs !!

when she lays a egg she acts broody, but that only lasts a max of 30 min UGH !!
