I'm trying to keep from giving my chickens so many treats (they absolutely LOVE white seedless grapes...LOL)
Anyway, they do seem to be eating more of their layer pellets now (with some DE added
)
Well, if I go outside, they all run to the gate of the run making noises and looking at me like..."what do you have for me this time"...
So, so far for the past few mornings, I've been getting some of their food and mixing in a little cracked corn. Then, I take it into the house and mix a little nonfat yogurt in it, a little dry powdered milk, a little water, and sometimes mashed up fruit in it like bananas..but sometimes no fruit. Oh, and I also add a little DE to it. Sometimes I put a little dry oatmeal in there as well.
I just mix this all up real good....looks almost like oatmeal consistency...or like some of that dog food that you add water and make gravy with or something.
Anyway, BOY they love it! They don't seem to realize it's they're layer pellets!
Is this ok to give on a daily basis? Is it ok for the roos to eat it too?
I mean, I was a little concerned about all the calcium (the dry powdered milk and the yogurt and maybe DE has calcium???). Will it be too much for the roos?
Should I just mix the calcium stuff in it once a week or so and just make the mash out of the food, cracked corn, oats and a little fruit and water for the daily basis thing?
Thanks!
