With hubbys health issues and mine, it has gotten harder for me to keep up, and with all the financial issues and my allergies getting worse and worse, I have to start realizing I just can't keep everyone. It is going to be hard to decide who to keep and who to sell as they are all my babies and I've hatched out most of them. Finding good homes for them to go to is what really worries me...... I will be keeping my JG's, B/B/S Orps, Salmon Favs and some of my Polish aswell as my Seramas , Silkies and some other Bantams.......... it just sucks, and I cry every time I think about it. I have slowly been thinning down and not hatching a lot of chicks........... so if anyone in my area is looking for some nice birds and will take good care of them, I will be selling some to make money to keep my others.....

I will be concentrating more on my peafowl and my Favorite of favorite chicken breeds.

aww I'm sorry hun but think about how losing some will make the rest of your flocks lives better because you will be able to pay for everything and take excellent care of them. At least you will still have the ones that you are keeping.

I can relate! I am doing the same as you .... cutting down, and less hatching.

It is really alot of work, taking proper care of all these birds, isn't it? I understand how difficult it is to cut down. But, you are right, it will be better in the long run.

Good luck and best wishes.

I am so sorry. I feel the same way with my cats. They are my children even though I had some of the people kind too. I don't have any chickens yet but intend to have 3 or 4 as pets. HA! I keep telling myself that is all.

(((hugs))) I know this isnt easy. As someone else said tho, you are doing the best things for them and for you. Kudos for having the strength to make that decision.

Maybe if you posted a list of exactly who needs a new home, it would be easier for folks to jump in and help. Selling to a BYCer is always better than the General Public cause you know your babies will be in good hands.
