Foreground bird is interesting, but much darker than will do well on these grounds. The various red and "whatever" birds behind will all disappear better most months. The almost all black bird is in the picture, back right, hiding.

I know it doesn't know what its future holds, but it does behave like it would rather be overlooked... (and look, all clean feet - no "Brahma mama" genetics as far as feet feathers go. That is a joy)

That front one is also one I'd watch as a possible boy from my own flock

"he" does seem to have the legs for it. I had the same thought. Typically one of the more uprright stances among the birds as well.

I will likely let the turkeys out of their pen next week, move these birds in. I'm sure they would like the space, and the turkeys are already as big as my smallest chickens, they should do just fine. That, or I have to build another pen while I'm rebuilding the hen house and starting on the greenhouse...

That one might get more red/brown as it grows older, especially if it is a male.
I'll be curious to see pictures of it in another month or two, assuming it survives that long.

I can virtually guarantee he gets two more months. I'm curious too.

I had Wheaten Ameraucana cocks that looked like that at a young age, they definitely got more colorful as they got older. Might be too flashy/gold for what you're looking for, but I agree that he's one to keep an eye on.

Anything I can. Going to try aquaculture, but I would LOVE a decent tomato, not an artificially ripened, wharehouse stored facsimile of a tomato.

We eat a probably 2-3 pounds of tomato a week, most weeks - would be nice to have options.

Aquaculture can be fun once you get the right setup. And tomatoes are my favorite too!! I could live on tomatoes if I could grow enough where I am currently. lol!

I've done aquaculture with tilapia, as well as ornamental aquarium-trade fish like guppies, white clouds, and koi. Haven't been in it for years on a proper scale, but do hope to get back into it at some point!
