I have been saving eggs to make a torte, it asks for 7 chicken eggs, so I used 30 quail eggs, it looked about the right volume for 7, I guess I’ll find out haha.

Anyway, I’ve heard quail and duck eggs are better for baking, so I‘m excited to find out. This is the recipe I chose:

I thought it looked a bit blah so I added a graham cracker crust I’ve use for cheesecakes before, I’m crossing my fingers it wasn’t a big mistake.

Here are the eggs:

I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Beautiful celadon eggs! It has always amused me how many quail eggs it takes to equal just a few chicken eggs.
As I was cracking them I was marveling at the amount, it took forever haha, I try to get that last glob out of the top part you cut off, then a piece of shell falls in and I fish it out for 2 and 1/2 minutes, repeat until I got frustrated and just lopped off the tops and dumped.

It smells good, just checked it, looks to have about 3 minutes left, I might save the big unveiling til tomorrow when grandpa comes over for pizza.

Congratulations! The eggs are beautiful! For future use, one large chicken egg is 1/4 cup. So if a recipe calls for 3 eggs that’s 3/4 cup liquid. You could crack enough quail eggs to make 3/4 cup and you’d be right. Your torte looks delicious!

Well I think I put a bit too few, I’ll remember for next time, it came to just over 1 and 1/3 cups I think. Oh well.
