Hi,
I have been reading how sour skim milk is good for growing poultry. I also found out non-fat dried milk
is good for poultry. I found out it's possible to make quality sour milk from dried skim milk. Now to bring
the whole thing full circle....is it possible t make a quality sour milk from non-fat dried milk and have to
be good for the poultry? How do I make sour milk? Can I use a yogurt maker? How do I do it and
how long does it have to sour and how do I tell if it is ready to feed or not?
Thanks for your help!
Best,
Karen

We used to feed the whey, from making goat milk cheese to our chickens also...very good for them!!!

I used to use milk that was "iffy" and to sour it, put in some vinegar...didn't read the link, but you can give straight milk too, we gave them any extra goat milk also...they loved it!!!

We had goats for meat and milk, so had too much milk at times, that is why I mentioned the goat milk, any milk would be ok...although would be "processed milk". If you are trying for organic, that would nullify your organic status, if using store bought! Raw milk from a dairy farm wouldn't though!

If not going organic, go right ahead and feed them any milk you want! Just remember, it's "fortified" that means they add stuff...
