I had my adults in the house but the rooster would crow sooo early i couldn't stand it any more so i built them a new box out in the heated garage and gave their pen in the house to the new baby chicks.

Here are a few updated pics of the chicks that are a little over 3 weeks old now....

Okay...I have scored 2 very nice trio's of A/B Seramas. I want to keep them in the house through the winter. I need to know what kinds of things they need in their cage? Like perches? Would a cage that has a couple different levels be good for them, or just a single level? Are they good flyers? I can't find anything on that particular question. Any tips from those that have kept them indoors would be greatly appreciated...this is a totally new breed for me and I'm so excited!

L&Schickens :

I use to have a lot of them, but now not so many. I moved and had to sell off most of my birds. But I kept some!!
Here are some I have now. Goldie and Baby Sarge hached their first clutch ever this year. They are 7 years old, so it was amazing that Goldie finally decided to sit. They have 7 babies. All the eggs she had hatched.

This is Sweety Pie. He is one of a few I hatched last eyar in the incubator. All the others were killed by a weasel.

They love their perches and nesting boxes a bit high. Here is a pic of the serama coop i built for my quad

the nesting boxes on either end are resting on a board which is the first perch, I then screwed another 1 by 2 in between the nest boxes to create another higher perch closer to window level so they can see the great outdoors lol

Try www.ovabid.com also. I don't think having a yahoo email is an issue there.

You could also sign up for a free email at www.gmail.com It's far better than yahoo, IMO and I've had yahoo for years.

Eggbid doesn't allow any type of free e-mail accounts to register - but that's ok I found a way around it. I forgot I had a school e-mail because I take night classes - I just used that and linked it to my yahoo e-mail.

Oh WOW!!! That is one of the coolest setups I've ever seen for indoor birds!! Thank you for sharing that. I hadn't even thought of covering the cage...been a long time since I had caged birds in the house. Does covering them until you get up in the morning help cut down the chances the roos will crow and wake you up too early? lol
