All around the same time I have four serama hens that have decided to go broody, maybe it's something in the water.

LOL I believe it, those girls are sooo determined! I had one of my girls setting on 13 duck eggs! She stole the nest while the duck was off the nest for lunch.

If I were the one doing the "getting," I'd go for the best I could afford, whichever type of feathers it had. If both types are equally good, go for which feather type or colors you like better (after all, you are the one that has to look at them every day, lucky you!). Or, if you have enough space, take Fluffy's advice!

Tonka is with 2 hens ( buff colored) and they are for sale. One of the hens is Brooding 5 eggs right now.

Nancy, I sure hope you find a home for these birds soon, before I get tempted to do something I really shouldn't! (I have enough pens to build as it is!) Did I tell you that the little buff hen I got from you had laid two eggs in the box?

haha I forgot I posted those! Yeah, I'm dieing to see what he ends up looking like! I miss having my pair because hatching these little guys out, you never know what colors you're going to end up with! That's a big part of the fun of breeding these! The second pullet (3rd pic) started out being an all yellow chick, then when her feathers started coming it it was just white, now she's getting that buff/wheaten coloration.

The Tail and wing position on these are all pretty much the same. They had their tails down and body low because they were kind of nervous (not use to having their pictures taken lol) When they aren't nervous or just walking around they have that perfect little serama stance. I did end up buying a couple Serama x EE x OEG crosses that are very serama like, but the pullet has a beard (which is actually really cute! I would love to be able to make this into a true breed! lol) and the cockerel has a longer body and just a slight serama stance (the only way you can tell with the cockerel is the body and black on the legs rather than just yellow).

Figured I'd add in a couple pics of when they were a couple days old to show ya the difference

This is the first pullet in the last post

I actually went to Walmart and bought little plastic rubber made type boxes I think they were like $3 which I put pine shavings in. I have tried hundreds of things and they never took to them unless I moved them and their eggs. I had one of these in the house that wasnt being used and the girls all love them! Best of all, if their man is in the pen with them he likes to roost as the proud papa on the side of the box which he cant do with the shoe boxes.
