It was suggested by fellow BYC'ers that I come to this thread to post. Here is the situation:
My older DD's b-day is coming up. She asked me for some Seramas for her birthday, so I found a breeder here in my own state, and arranged to buy a trio from her. So last month we picked up the birds, and my DD was so excited because she has been wanting these birds almost since we first got into chickens. These birds were completely feral, having had no human contact before we got them, but my daughter has diligently worked with them every single day to get them used to her, and she has falled head over heels in love with them. Well, I showed some pictures to a fellow chicken owner and breeder and she pointed out that she didn't think my roo or one of my pullets were Seramas at all, but instead were OEGB's. She suggested that I come here and ask, and it would seem that indeed, they are NOT Seramas. Well, my DD has been terribly upset since this whole situation arose. My DD has an anxiety disorder and does NOT handle stress well at all, and the thought that she might have to return these birds in order to get the Seramas that she has dreamed of made her sick to her stomach, and she cried. I had to tell her that she could keep them. She still wants her Seramas though. I'm upset because I paid for Seramas, expected Seramas, but got OEGB's. The problem? The very last of my money went into that trio. Before getting this trio I had ordered some Serama eggs from another BYC'er, but none hatched. My daughter was devastated about that, so I made the decision to purchase birds instead of eggs so that we could guarantee live birds, you know? And now she still doesn't have her Seramas. Well, the third bird, a 1 yr old hen, I was told is a poor specimen for a Serama. So I decided to post here, for my daughter's sake, not mine. I love my kids, and my older DD is not a demanding child, infact, she hardly ever asks me for anything. She tends to be withdrawn, but when she has her pets, she is like any other happy child. Her chickens make her very happy, and I do what I can to make her happy. She's a good girl. I don't like to ask for things, but is there anyone that might have some birds or even some eggs? I hate the thought if the eggs didn't hatch, but if eggs are what is available, then I guess that's the route to go. My daughter just wanted some as pets, they're her favorite breed. She doesn't care about color, she just wants to love them and spoil them. I'm recently disabled too, so money is extremely tight right now, but let me know what you might have and what you want for it. Thank you. Her birthday is October 28th, and I'd like to surprise her with the real deal for her birthday.
