I wanna see some pics! Everything needs pics! lol

My daughter just wanted some as pets, they're her favorite breed. She doesn't care about color, she just wants to love them and spoil them.

I guess her heart is set on a serama, and the other breeds just wont fill that hole.... (Note to self--dont tell my kids the names of the breed we have, in case they want another breed than whatever they already have as pets!)

I'm not meaning to poke fun, but I can see why she likes the breed. It IS the best breed out there.
Listen, if you are ever near Lexington KY... I'll give you a nice hen.
I would offer a pair, but I'm short on roos this year........... (Go figure!)

What do you want to see pics of, the little OEGB roo? Here is a close up of his face:

He's a cute little guy, just completely wild. His name is Elizar.

And yes, she has her heart set on Seramas. She researched them and was told how sweet natured they are, and she wanted some very badly. We all fell in love with our neighbor's little Dutch hen, but she was killed winter before last. It's been in her head ever since that she wants a small chicken, and she feels Seramas would be perfect. If I had known though, I would have researched OEGB's too so that I would have known the difference.

That's one thing that I really love about the Seramas. Their type is totally unique. Once you get that image fixed in your mind's eye, you won't have any trouble identifying it. You instantly think "that's a Serama!" when you see one. It may take a bit longer to learn the finer points of show vs. pet quality, but the package is unmistakable.

This is totally what I promote! I think Seramas are easy to figure out after a bit of studying, and then you get the fine details down later. They do have an "unmistakable package"!!

I love that!

We will be at the Columbus Nationals---if anyone needs birds let me know-we deliver, lol

If you like to walk around, and look at hundreds of really nice chickens, but chicken stuff, enter chicken raffles and look at rows and rows of sale pens.. then YES! You want to go to nationals.

If I can work it out with Patrick's schedule, and you want eggs that late.. Ill try to bring you some extras if you go. Or maybe Ill have some extra chicks or something and save you the trouble of dealing with hatching. Let me know, and Ill see what I have then.

Last year Kelly and I made a BYC poster and we all met up and had lunch outside. It was fun to meet people from BYC and put faces to names!

Cute fellow! Very shiny! See how that was better with a picture? lol

I will say though, seramas are very docile. I have a LOT of birds, and I dont handle them all all the time. If I want one tamed down, I hand it to my 3 year old and let her love on it for a bit. I always tell people to tame a serama, carry it around for an hour and they will be in your pocket. Treats help too, try a pizza party like this one....

Then you have to worry about stepping on them, and you really will have to put them in your pocket. ( I know I have a pic of that somewhere...)

Cant find those.. BUT....
Here are some cute kiddo ones tho!

Now see, THAT'S what my DD wants! Something sweet she can carry around and mother. She'll go nuts when she sees these pictures. She still can't get Elizar tame. Not for lack of trying. He wants nothing to do with it. Neither do the girls. Elizar is turning out to be one that's pretty to look at, but not too friendly. That's ok, so long as he doesn't start flogging the kids. I had to rescue my mini Doxie from my Quail Antwerp cockerel a little while ago. The brat (his name is Hoot) had the dog up on the porch and backed into a corner with no way out but to go past him. I had to grab the roo and move him, and then usher the dog inside. Little stinker. He doesn't like being held either, but he's calm and usually well behaved. That's the first time he did that to the dog. I hope he doesn't go getting ideas that he's more dominant than the dog. He's our anti social roo. He doesn't socialize with anyone else in the flock, he just wanders around by himself and prefers to be alone. So a nice little Serama or two would be quite welcome here!

OK. So I told Patrick one thing and instead of telling you the same and being wrong, I went and checked my facts: I have at least two finals on the 15th of November (if I have a third that day it can be moved, yay!) So as of right now I'm likely going Saturday... We aren't sure how that weekend will play out but unless I'm completely unprepared , I'll be there. It would be nice to meet everyone, see the sights and get the heck out of Erie for a day! I don't mind getting some eggs that late, if anyones hens are still producing.
I think shipping decimated the eggs I ordered, maybe a car ride would be kinder to hatch rates. I'm def. Not overnighting eggs again for a long, long time....
