In order to keep the chicken picture mafia at bay here are the new seramas from Jerry.
the boys

I absolutely LOVE the guy in front. They both weighed in at 17 oz. The hen is actually behind both the boys in this pic. They are very protective of her.
here is the hen she weighed in at 14 oz I love her pattern

I had to hold her to get a pic. she sets up really well but the boys won't let me take a pic of her in the pen.
I am very happy with the birds

My teeny tiny eggs from mbrobbins went into the hatcher earlier today, I set them on the 10th, so they should be due Friday?? That's if they hatch on day 19, but I should have some serama bitties sometime this weekend

Good thing the auction is on Saturday, cause I don't have ANY empty brooders!

Jessi-

I crossed her with Junior, and she gave me my chocolates, as well as my blue laced boy below...His color and type needs work, but I am very excited about my next hatch!

A lot of people have asked me about how I photograph my birds, after seeing my Seramas up for auction here at BYC (they all end this weekend), so I made a post here...http://www.pixiechickens.com/2010/10/29/how-we-photograph-our-seramas/, with all the information plus photos!

Of course, you still have to CATCH your birds and hope that they'll cooperate and stand nicely while you're clicking away, but having a little "chicken studio" really does cut down on the time involved.

Hope this helps someone next time you need to "shoot" your birds! :Dbig_smile

I have one that's been pipped for a good while now, it's got a decent sized hole but that's about it. I don't see any action on the others yet, but today is only day 19

I know for me, the most nerve-wracking time is from that first pip till it actually hatches!!! I literally "hover" over that hovabator...ugh!!!

See anytime I incubate Serama eggs no matter where they come from (homegrown or shipped) they always pip on day 19 and hatch on day 20..thats all of my other breeds eggs too. I rarely have anything pip/hatch on day 21 and have never had anything happen before day 19.

I had 2 chicks hatch yesterday that were overflows from a LF hen's nest.

I rearranged eggs the night before, moving duck eggs out of the hatcher and serama eggs into it. so I had the serama eggs and 2 eggs from one of my hens in the hatcher. I woke up the next morning with the 2 eggs from my hen both hatched. Neither had had external pips the night before, and only one of the 2 was internally pipped. I actually thought about tossing the other one because it looked like it was dead

Good thing that didn't happen, it's a little blue/silver chick with a head spot, so it will be blue and barred
