Actually, the weight standard for a pullet is 12 ounces, so she's right where she should be (a 'B' class).

Thank you for correcting me, I thought 12oz was still A class. Ya learn something new everyday.
OHH, how many omelets do ya think I can make with that egg???

I'm not sure exactly how the A, B, and C classes go (Edgar won't tell me since the only show that still uses those is the Cajun Classic), but the ideal weights for serama are 12 ounces for pullets, 14 ounces for cockerels and hens, and 16 ounces for cocks. There is a 20% 'cushion' over and under on weight.

Morning Serama Folks,

I pop in here ocassionally...know some of you from other forums. Bad weather is getting to me...I've been doing chicken pictures for entertainment. Here are some 5 month old Silkied Serama. NO SILKIE (breed)in their background...it is a silkied gene (mutation) from serama.

We set 15 Serama eggs with several other breeds yesterday afternoon. I notice all the talk of SHIPPED eggs. I got them from a breeder a couple hours' drive away. Any experience with eggs driven home? (They did sit in the turner for a few days while some other shipped eggs came in, so there was even some rest from the trip home.) I'm REALLY hoping for several of them to hatch....

Oh and sorry - do you find more success at a different temp or humidity level than others?

I have found that 70%-72% humidity has been the key to the ones that have hatched. In my still airs the temp was 101.5 - 102 and in my new Brinsea it stayed at 99.5. The humidity has been the key for me. I'm just going to say it because I'm not ashamed of it - I've had to help all but 3 hatch. Those 3 are my C and probably D class ones. Others don't agree with helping and I really prefer not to, but these little ones (class A and B) seem to have a really hard time getting out sometimes. When I see distress, I go in. I wouldn't have the 12 I have if I didn't. I should add that out of every egg that went into lockdown, they all hatched. My losses were in the beginning or halfway through incubation.

Very good to know! I have the eggs in a still air also (Hovabator). What humidity did you have during the first 18 days?

I apologize - i REALLY wasnt trying to start a debate or a fight between people on the shipped - non shipped eggs to hatch topic! Just looking for sound advice! Sorry!

I've had people argue with me that the silkied serama are a silkie/serama cross. I just laugh

I mean, if you crossed a silkie and a serama, the resulting offspring would look nothing like a serama! They'd be crested, have black-ish skin, have feathered feet, and at least 1 foot with 5 toes. No doubt about it folks, these are the real deal!
