Thought I would share some sweetness tonight

This is Mischa, one of the 7 new babies that hatched last night. Brutal hatch - lots of humidity issues due to our weather here - but got 7 out of 11 Serama eggs (shipped eggs) that went into lockdown. Not bad, but was hoping for better with this new Brinsea.

She is the motherly one of the group. She spent last night taking care of the two weakest ones (both lived) - poking them to make them move and then sleeping on them.

I love how they literally fall asleep while walking

I've had people argue with me that the silkied serama are a silkie/serama cross. I just laugh

I mean, if you crossed a silkie and a serama, the resulting offspring would look nothing like a serama! They'd be crested, have black-ish skin, have feathered feet, and at least 1 foot with 5 toes. No doubt about it folks, these are the real deal!

even if it were a 15/16 serama and 1/16 silkie not trying to be argumenitive just trying to learn. Is there a easy to read book on chicken genetics? thanks

Got a genesis bator and vicks hydrometer the vicks was dead on with my own chicks so im hoping this combo will work best besides getting a better bator

I candled my 7 Serama eggs last night, and two apear to be dead. One was non-fertile it got thrown out. Then the 2nd one had Blood Ring, but I hate to throw it out yet...just in case.

5/7 isn't bad, For Seramas.
