With life comes death....my little Mischa, the chick in my avatar, the one I've been hand feeding and caring for since she hatched (she was blind) just died in my hand. She was 11 days old today and no bigger than the day she hatched really - 1/4 the size of her hatch mates. I know it's probably for the best and that she probably had lots of problems, but that knowledge does not make it any easier. Each chick/chicken death, for whatever reason, still hurts.

Thank you. I know she did. I told her I loved her and kissed her little wings and then she just went to sleep. I tried so hard. I even went and bought her special food today recommended by others for hand feeding and she loved it. I fed her every couple hours, was teaching her to eat and drink on her own....I guess her little body just gave out. I hate failing.

i dont like to pass my line down to anyone even if its a silkie i rather cull and keep the breed true and breed to malay standard i really like all the info from this site and i will try and post some pics in the morning of what my breeding stock looks like some are from kate from ocseramas and some are from jerry

I dedicate this thread above, to Mischa, maybe she did not make it, but here is a story about one little peep who had a hard start before he even left the egg. I hope all you BYCers enjoy this happy ending story.
