I have taken my serama hen to a few different outdoor events and she is always oogled over till the cows come home. It is SO much fun! And my birdie just loves it too.
Just wanted to let fellow serama lovers know that I will be parting with 5 of my serama's if anyone is looking. I have decided to downscale to just a trio of chocolates/brown and my solid black pair as I am focusing on bantam orpingtons this year. Here are the 5 that are available.
This rooster has been amazing for me, will hate to see him go. I also have his son available that is going to look just like him
Not a great pic but this hen and her daughter that looks just like her

If you could safely send them I would love the pullet in the last picture! I am not sure how you would do that though or if you even can! Let me know, if you can, a price would be good too!

You are not crazy at all!!! I have had lots of eggs making noises as early as day 16! I love listening to them, the louder they get typically the closer they are to piping! Crossing my fingers for you!
Luv Luv Luv the pics!
HenThymes,
Are you splurging on some chocolate orps? Love your lil rooster. What color hens do you have available? I'd ask about roosters but I have more roos than hens and won't part with any of them
As far as the incubating, my very best hatches have been when I let the hen set them the first 10-14 days then I bring them in to hatch. I think the hens give them the best start possible but there are so many things that can happen to the lil chicks once they hatch that I prefer to finish them in the house and hand raise so they're real pets. If I don't have a broody hen, then I use one of my styrofoam incubators to start with to incubate that has the fan, then move them to another one that the fan stopped working for hatching and a day or two as the first brooder and I have screen wire over a wire floor then pieces of rubbery drawer liner (the waffle weave type) and as tall a bowl of water as will fit that increases the humidity. I agree that the fan dries them out. Another option would be to simply unplug the fan wires closer to hatching. I like using the 2 incubators so I can have different batches of eggs set at different times since I don't have that many to hatch at any one time and I don't have to wait 18 days to set the next group. In 18 days, many of them would be too old to set.
They are moved to #1 brooder from the second incubator then to #2 brooder in the garage till they can be in a regular cage.

Not a great picture of her but the hen in the second picture is available and he daughter who looks just like her. The color is what Jerry name "honey mustard". No she is not from Jerry but is the same color as some of his honey mustard birds.
The hen is a B and not sure what her daughter will finish out? The last picture is of a pullet that I really like but am parting with. She is showing signs of being really typey, nice size, yellow legs, short back, I think she would do well is shown...

First of all, I want you to know that am not a pro.....everything I am telling you is base on my daily observation of my birds in the past 2 yrs. I believe I told you in my last respond that this guy https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/58397_118.jpg looks like he has more potential than the blk one. Due to the picture of him did not show much of his back, I was hesitating when wrote it.
