Try Carl Foster. Lovely birds, and he cleans up at shows.

Speaking of which, I just got home from the Southeast Ohio Poultry Breeders show in Marietta. Lots of nice Seramas there, and I got permission to post pics of the winners.

The barred bird has sickles that go on for another mile; I'm sorry that I cut them off. It's pretty amazing.

to any pet serama owners out there, i have several sweet, broody, pet quality hens, pullets and cockerels, was selling them for 50$, but price is down to 25$ a pair. also have some nicer birds for fair price, but im looking to move these pet birds asap, shipping is 60$ a pair, 65$ a trio

they have potential, just not up to speed with what the big breeders are producing nowadays...

I am still searching for a hen for my Squeak. A large A or small B size in the mille fleur color like him... Prefer not to have shipped. Might settle for him a roo as a companion...

So anyone on here going to the Bloomington In. Show April 9th?

I'm going to start a thread for Serama breeders who are breeding for Chocolate so we can work together to learn more about what we have and how to breed for the color as well as maybe do some trading. I don't want to exclude anyone but would prefer posts be relevant to the chocolate variety (and dun since there are obviously some that we're not sure if they are dun or chocolate).
We can share about Serama's in general here but I wanted a thread with this focus.

So im going to be getting into these little buggers!!! Im going to build a pen, what are some things that you would have done differently now? And is there anything different from regular chickens i should know about?

Juliette,
I did see that and was wondering if you would be interested in trading Luther for a couple of chicks out of my chocolate hen? The pullets won't help you since they won't carry chocolate but the split chocolate cockerels might. I'd trade 2 chicks for Luther. I have several of Truffles eggs going now and she's laying everyday so I'll collect another half dozen and set them and so on. The first ones I set are in the incubator and due to hatch April 1st. There were just a couple test eggs and they're fertile. Two hens are setting a total of 11 eggs so I'm hoping for really good hatch rates for those and I'm setting every egg she lays in hopes for some very nice cockerels to keep one to breed back to Truffles but I wouldn't mind another line of chocolates either.

The rooster she's in with is my blue wheaten rooster, a small B size. Truffles is a small C so there will be varying sized chicks.....as usual for Serama's. Blu-T is very good type, show quality. Truffles is decent, nice upright and full chest, excellent yellow leg color, could use more vertical wings and shorter back but I'm counting on Blu to help bring that up to par. I'll eventually buy a show quality black rooster for Truffles to start a line with more solid color black and chocolate but for now, I'm hoping for some cool surprises.

Be sure to join the Chocolate Serama breeders thread!

How exactly can you tell if you have a chocolate? I have a male that looks almost identical the Serama "Luther" that is for sale. What makes one chocolate?
Thanks for the info!
