sorry that slipped out. They stop laying eggs too when they M?????

@henthymes, who/what is the black hen in backround of first pic? also is it still supposed to be norm for hens to stop laying during moult? as just thought about that my hens moulted and didnt stop laying it seems (at time was looking forward to their downtime as had surplus of eggs..), but then went broody right after started laying a month maybe later.

She is a solid black pullet that is from a pair of solid blacks that I have. She is really small, has very nice type (other than her damage comb) but so far every egg from her has been a dud.

(off the solid black cockerel) Her eggs are really tiny too.

I am wanting to see if she is fertile or not so I have moved her from her black mate. She is very passive and did not do well in the group with the two older hens so I put her with this younger group and all seem to be getting along great!

Not a great pic but this is her from last fall before she started laying.

Frustrated! I recently bought 11 serama chicks from a local breeder. Now 5 weeks in I have a couple that just don't look right. I tried to post pictures for opions but because I have never posted in the last year or so since I joined can't do that either. (I do understand it is a necessary evil). So I will at the best I can anyway describe them.

Overall the group looks good, there is one I am sure is some kind of silkie cross. I notice the day after I got them this one had too many toes so kind of knew then it was a silkie and since I like them too was not to disappointed. But now I can tell the wing feathers are not right. It does have a nice walnut comb developing. The other thing that concerns me with this is one of the serama chicks has some leg feathering which I know is possible but now between the two I am wondering if both are crosses. The serama does have nice type and size. Should I cull both?

Also there is one chick that is 3 times bigger then everyone else. It was the only white chick in the bunch and was the same size when I bought them. But now due to the other questionable chicks and its size. Plus it carries its wings vertical not horizontal as due the rest of the chicks. And it is a bully!

Ok any thoughts? I will post pictures once I get to that status.

Thanks,
Glenn

I am not experienced with Seramas....just got my first ones this week.
But generally speaking, would it hurt to give them a little more time?
That is what I would do.
Good Luck

No it won't hurt. Just with the varation I am seeing so far makes me wonder what might be developing. I must say the others are coming along great and seem to change colors daily! One is looking barred, and I am pretty sure there is a pair of black-tailed buffs. So it is not all bad.
