Ruth,
I'm making french bread to take to work tomorrow and reading posts so I'm a bit distracted. I don't have an extra cage for another cockerel or cockerels as they get old enough to fight but I'll think about it and see if I can manage. I think I could easily put them in a couple of wire cages and then they could run loose in the pen with my BBR Araucana's. If they can't get along with Rudy, and he's very mellow, then there is a cage inside that pen that might work. How old are they? Colors? These are full Serama's or Tuti's crosses?

I hadn't weighed any of my chicks and thought I'd weigh the little black chick at the barn that is so small. It's over a month old and weighed 2.2 ounces.
Pretty small for a month old chick I think. With my luck, it's a pullet and will be too small to breed

My little black one was 2.0 ounces at 6 weeks old and at 24 weeks she was 7.2

She is now being spoiled rotten by a fellow BYCer in NY with 2 other teeny-tiny girls

I have started weighing my chicks just for fun. I also have one that is 2.2 ounces at 4 weeks. So far the tiniest chick I have hatched was only 0.3 ounce the day I took her out of the incubator. I think it will be interesting to see how they all grow.

sorry to so long lost one of my chicks first one in a long time. spent the evening hydrating it. warming everything. just forgot how easy it is to lose them
