thanks sue ...im crossing everything if i can cross it well its crossed lol..... broody apparently like meal worms banana and grass fed to her right in front of the nest..... strange for a bird that i never met and seemed very skiddish she has gone broody and allows me to shuffle around her pen without freaking out..... she may turn into my favorite just yet if she keeps this up

Just looked at a national weather report and yikes, definitely not the time to ship birds.
It's been cooler here this Summer than it was this Spring, when we hit 100 a few times.

What color is this guy? I've been calling him pumpkin & blue.

Winter is one of the roos that I kept around but will be selling because little Squeaky is taking over a few hens.

I have been hearing that seramas need a heat source in the winter would a Chick Lamp work?I Dont Have Any Yet If My Silkie Pullet goes broody by the end of her 2 year i might buy some eggs or chicks!

I think a heat lamp or 2 would work. I lost 3 last winter when we had a really bizzare cold front. I have since made changes to my coop and plan to have a heat source during the winter.

Oh, my bad!!! I need some catch up to do. Its a bummer to pet parents when a youngun dies, we tend to blame ourselves for not doing enough for our pets.

That is so true. When a chicken dies it puts me in a funk all week. Thank goodness it doesn't happen often.

OK. I need some big time help.....
I just had a chick hatch out, actually I had to help it. It was stuck to everything with some sort of sticky goo! (maybe yolk) It is now dry but very crunchy and not fluffying out and it is sticking to the bottom of the incubator. Should I pull it out and wash it. It was the first to pip at 18 days. Tonight would be 19 days. Any advice?
