Way cool! He looks like my barred wheaten boys. I think, the only other one I've seen.

Watch out for pasty butt, and give a drop of vitamins to the weaker ones. My problem is Silkie mortality. I just lost an unusual lavender partridge, but I just hatched another, and I'm keeping a real good eye on it.

I have found a little flax seed ground and added to the normal feed , stops pasty bottom . You would know if your little one died from pasty bottom there is a very hard clump of poo stuck covering their vent . I'm not sure where you are but the weather has been horrible almost every where in the world maybe just a little electrolites in their water will give them a boost . I'm sorry to hear of your loss

No pasty butt. Well they had it a wee bit but i made sure to always clean it off.
Maybe vitamins will help. It won't hurt to try!
thanks

Jen I am so sorry for your losses and yes I have had healthy chicks just drop dead for no reason. In fact I just lost a 12 day old a few weeks ago for unknown reasons raised with a serama hen. I have had month olds running around fine one minute and 5 minutes later they are dead. IMO they are very fragile even when they are raised with the hens. It always seems to be the ones you were starting to like better then the others too!
