They're working on the breeding true thing, but mostly they don't. I know Bluegrass Serama is selling eggs ATM.

Also, if you go to SCNA.org (?), Jerry offers 4h kids a free pair if you pay for shipping. He's got good birds, and he might be able to accommodate a request. Don't quote me though.

Thank you, I'm not really sure what they call his color??

He is a cream base with I believe what they call a pumpkin on top of that. Maybe someone with more color experience will tell both of us what his color is called.

Hi all, just wanted to jump in. A friend of mine raises seramas, so I decided to get some eggs that mbrobbins had listed in BST the other day. These eggs are TINY!! Oh my gosh, I don't think I've ever seen chicken eggs so small! I raise OEGB, and they lay some pretty small eggs. But I think it would take 2 of these serama eggs to make 1 of the OEGB's! Any tips on hatching them?

Here are some pics of our new itty bitty serama babies

This is Happy Feet (didn't name this one)

And the group pic

All were born over the last 2 days.. First one was Happy Feet, second was Tinkerbell, third was Truffles, and lastly Lil' Coco.

They are very very small, the smallest egg was a little smaller than a quarter and that was Tinkerbell, Happy's was the size of a quarter, the Truffles and Coco's were a little larger than a quarter.

Hopefully we have 3 females and 1 male or 2 and 2.

Will keep up pics.

I have never had good luck incubating serama eggs but when I did try a few times I stopped turning them on day 16-17 I prefer to use the hens to hatch them out, they seem to do a great job at it where my old incubator wouldn't have hatched any.

I think I mainly do alright incubating Serama eggs. The first hatch I had from shipped eggs was really good...the second was not so good (I had them overnighted, might as well have asked FedEX to smash them for me), then the three that made it to lockdown got nuked, so only one hatched. But from the FIRST serama hatch, I had 21 eggs, 13 of which made it to lockdown, as the others candled clear. 13/13 hatched. Two of those pipped the wrong side of the egg so I helped them a little bit once they'd been pipped (and angry about not progressing) for a long time.

I don't think I did anything special with the Serama eggs...I do stop turning around day 16, but other than that I turn them between 3 and 4 times a day and have the humidity around 45-50 percent. This is a still air incubator from Tractor Supply. I use shelf liner on the floor of the incubator so that no one slips or hurts their legs, and I have a small lid which is used as a water dish, with gravel in it so they can drink and not drown. I also put a little BLENDED UP chick food on a paper towel on the floor of the incubator so that they can start eating if they are so inclined.

Well.. I got 8, after a week, 2 wasn't developing, checked them at 16 days and all showed development. At day 18 had the first pip. Day 20- 4 had hatched.

Day 21 we had to pull the chicks, and we checked the two eggs, both were full, but no movement
