I think the younguns like to try their voices out. They're very proud of their new sound, and they want to practice. Every one is unique, too. I have 5 or 6 crowers out in the garage and adjacent room, and I can tell each one apart. Just hope yours is a quiet, decent sounding crow, not the shrill, crow-in-a-blender. Mine greet me when I get home from work, around 6:30 in the morning, but they go back to bed as soon as I go back into the house. The one I have in the house, getting ready for a show, worried me the other day, because he didn't crow ALL morning. I got up around 12:30, earlier than usual, because his silence was keeping me up; I thought he was dead! He was just hanging with the Silkie pullet I had also washed.

LOL... Mine started crowing about 5 weeks old.. And they are the funniest things you have ever heard.. I will post my video once again.. I need to get an updated one because he crows a lot better now.. He's 9 weeks old now. Well.. Just as I was typing he is crowing.. Here it is! Truffles the Big Bad 9 Week old Serama.

I was thinking of getting some serama eggs to hatch but don't have a bator. Is there any breeds of hens I could use to hatch out some eggs?

Thanks

wow, i've never heard a serama crow like that. Mine are a LOT more high pitched. I do have a couple bantam cochins that sound just like him though lol

Hi! I was rearranging some of the Serama here yesterday and had a fright!
I moved a little barred wheaten guy in with 12 girls and all of a sudden he started standing weird, neck drawn back down toward his tail. He looked like he was in terrible pain! I thought he must be sick, so I pulled him back out of that pen and caged him by himself. He went back to normal and I couldn't find anything wrong with him, so I put him back with the girls last night.
I finally realized... he was just posing!

Couldn't catch the 'extreme pose' with the camera (they all run to the back of the pen), but it did scare me!

OK, I'm a little late here, just have too much going on right now...

Out of 13 original serama eggs, one quit the first week, another quit the second week, so I wound up with 11 out of 13 babies! Here's a pic taken Sunday morning...I have another group due for Christmas...and New Years'...and the week after! I guess it's a good thing I decided to hatch now (BRRRRR!), because most of my girls have all gone broody! What are they thinking!?! The spots on their heads are from food coloring, until I can get to band them...
