First give him time to adjust to the change of moving to a new environment. It may be that he has never been handled and is freaked out by the move.

I have a very sweet pullet that was very nippy with me the first week she was here even though she had been handled and even shown before she came to me. It turns out she was just stressed by the move and new things around her.....she is very nice now.

This is Butterscotch, the picture was taken by Mandy of the Cochin Coop.

She is very cute! The gentleman told me he never really handled them, and he is already 2 years old. I am going to work with him tho my hen is the sweetest thing. My hen layed an egg yesterday and than ate it within 5 minutes

I agree with Catwalk...they were a very good find on CL. I'd show them and see what the judge has to say about them. You'll have some fun and meet other Serama owners too.
As Ruth says...there is a lot of information on SCNA and some very nice, helpful people there too.

Here is a pic of a little hen I got from Jerry that has swarthy legs.

Try leaving a golf ball in her nest...maybe that will discourage her from eating the eggs but check often to get the egg out before she has a chance to eat it.

The little hen in the pic that did that too. She was even trying to set on two eggs on the wire...refused to lay in the nest. I found a large dog water bowl, put shavings in it with the two eggs and she's now decided to set. When I was sure she was serious about setting, I took 6 fresh eggs of another hens and swapped for her older eggs .

almost 3 week old brown barred chick. I've gotten about 4 like this thus far. I'm most excited to see how they turn out!

I'm getting nearly 30 eggs a week right now, so I'll probably be offering a few for sale in the near future. I need to get some better photos of the parents first. It's easier to wrangle a chick then a full grown bird!

Awww they are so cute looking out the window.

At this point in time, the shanks could be purple and your serama would not be disqualified. True, the desirable shank color is yellow and in the dark colors, i.e. black and blue, dusky/swarty is acceptable, but this does not preclude you from having, green, slate, black, brown, or neutral. Be more concerned about type and temperament, because these are the characteristics which set the serama apart from an ordinary chicken.

type and personality come first in this breed and I think a lot of people are starting to forget that now
