Well, because I am handy-dandy with wood and power tools (psst... I am a girl) I made them a 23" X 20" x 24" inside cage for hanging out with me in the house. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/69838_chickens_069.jpg
They also have a sleeping cage in my bedroom. They do go outside during the day with the BIG chckens and then come back in when the sun goes down. Because I live in southern CA it is so easy to do this.https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/69838_chickens_051.jpghttps://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/69838_chickens_050.jpg
HAVE FUN!

I'm getting handier with the power tools! I'm tired of having to wait till my husband finds time for my hobby

Very neat set up! Oh, how I miss living in Southern CA...what was I ever thinking moving up north?

I'm so chicken ignorant, I can't figure out how everyone else figures out any of the colors. Except black and white, I can do those!

Hi ZooMummzie,

You actually moved AWAY from southern CA?!?! Blame that move on hubby

I am originally from Chicago so I totally understand about-yuck weather. Anytime I am stuck on the freeways I say to myself : "Ya know you could be freezing your fuzzybutt off" and it makes the traffic jam seem petty.

This setup IS 100% preditor proof--mind you I only have to deal with feral cats, I am too much in civilization for anything more than that. For awhile the cats were parking on the roof so I put up a stip of paneling embedded with nails and VOILA no more parking! It was scaring my birdies so much when the roof would make noises.

You go girl---with the power tools! Remeber= measure twice and cut once and watch where your fingers are and you will be all set! I bet if you started doing it by yoursself that good old male pride would kick in and hubby would say: Hey let me do that now". Worth a try.

We actually lived in San Diego too! I grew up in Ohio - lived in California (San Jose and San Diego) since I was 15 though - and just thought that I needed to get back to that 4 season stuff. Someone should have really smacked me upside the head lol. The sad part is once you leave CA you cannot really move back. We've had the opportunity with hubby's job (at HP) but you can't get back into that cost of living after leaving it. Now it's just a nice place to visit and say "remember when we were warm all year long? lol

I had to learn color varieties to do well in 4-H, so I know quaite a few of them. I also own the Standard of Perfection.

These seramas keep adding new color varieties, though. It's hard to keep up.

Thanks everyone!
She is 9 months old, the guy I got her from said he never really held them or anything but she is the sweetest chicken I have owned. Her and the rooster that came with her are my first pair of seramas.
