The ABA standard weight for serama is 16oz. with the variance of 20% I believe....which come out to around 19.1oz.

ABA American Serama standard (Plus or minus 20%): 16 oz for Cocks
14 oz for Hens
12 oz for Cockerels and pullets

Hope this helps!

Sometimes when an animal had been bred down soooo small they have frertility issues, immune deficiencys and other metobolic isues. They are great to take out and show off, but if you use a great type larger bird that will produce those small micros then you are better off as a breeder to use the lager brood stock, you will have less fertility issues and have better production. Some micros only lay eggs 1 time every three weeks, and often many males are infertile!! there are acceptions and some may get lucky, with a hen rooster of both at this size. The micros are more of a show piece than something to use in a breeding program. Most people who have been in the serama for a while advise you to breed A or b roo to a B or c hen, for production. remember less is more, we will go further by breeding high quality animals to other high quality animalswith correct conformation!! I know people like you and i get excited about certain color projects and we want to bred for that , but as you know it is a very hard thing to do. We must crawl before we try to walk.

Arent they cute, I cant immagine trying to raise one, serama chicks are soooo sensative to begin with. I learnt lots from my first few batches and now have it down pretty well, but not easy!! I dont sell chicks now until they are at least 3 months old, no matter who it is, i sold some chicks about 1.5 months ago and the buyer reported one dead the next day!! so sad for the little one!! Not about the $ for me it is about the animal and the breed!!

Opinions on my roo? He's 4-5 months old. He wasn't posing very well, as I was trying to make him pose, and take the pic at the same time.... And I certainly could have chosen a better background!!! It was spur of the moment, and I was taking pics of all my other chickens.

Here is an update on my seramas. Any idea on their colors? I'm not sure how old each individual is. I've had them about a month and was told the original four I purchased were about 4 weeks give or take a few weeks and then a white one was thrown in extra. I also don't have any idea how big they will be.

This was the extra one. It won't stand on the wood. She's shy. But she is fine in the box with the other chicks. She hasn't grown at all really it seems like. She just feathered in a bit more and that's literally about it!

Have you ever seen a serama this color? She's not white. She was when I got her, but for a speckled feather here and there and then BAM. She became white with these blotchy tan feathers. I even bathed her thinking she was filthy. Haha. Closer inspection proves its her coloration.

At first I thought this pullet was somehow a frizzle/silky cross, but I think this is a double frizzle aka frazzle. Am I correct on this? When she arrived she was near bald, but she fortunately has filled in, but is SUPER frizzled.

My largest male

She didn't want to stand either. She's roughly the same size as the other pullet.

My smallest roo and 2nd smallest serama. He's also already crowing.

This is definitely a frazzle, or a Curlie, containing two doses of the frizzled gene. Mated to a smooth feathered serama, all the offspring should be frizzled.
