Sorry, I have to STRONGLY disagree here. You want to give away a sick bird that is going to go infect someone else's flock?? PLEASE don't!!!

I agree, just think how upset you were to get a sick bird. I know it isn't easy but do what is right.

Breeder got back with me apologetic. Had no idea the rooster was sick. He's in my garage crowing all morning long relentlessly. Jeez. I fel bad and torn as to what I should do.

My husband said he will cull the bird. I knew I kept him around for something.

feel so guilty though. That dang bird is out there being a noisy arse.

DUDE your hen was deathly ILL!!! She was dying, She will lay when her body allows for it, they lay when they are healthy. She has come around but she need to gain weight and be back in condition before she lays eggs again!! patients!! I know it is a hard thing!!

Cara, how are your birds doing? I thought I got 2 hatchlings from my cocopop project but guess not, both chicks were shrink wrap and died in the egg. Luckily, I got 5 chicks hatched from his full brother (Brownii) X full sister ( GingerIII ), 4 of them look similar with dark brown/black/white/gray and 1 with yellow/brown.

WEll Joey I have not been hatching any eggs, lack of space at the moment, I have to let a bunch grow up. I think i have 30 chicks to go over, The last batch i got was very similar to your hatch they were brown chipmunk colored birds 5 of them, I have not posted pics due to not being able to download the pics at the moment!! All my birds are all healthy and happy. I just love some of my cockerels that I have gotten!! I am going to hang on to this bunch untill they are around 6 months for sure, no selling. I also went to visit Jose the other day, man his little cockerel that he got from me is looking WOW:ep I need to get a nice pullet to him. I am just thrilled honestly with the chicks i have been hatching, Type is insane I have not had any culls. Ok one chick that has green legs from a roo that I am not using any more in my breeding project, but the chick looks so good i just cant do it. I guess type first, but the color project is doing well I dare not say that anything breeds true, I cant unless i have at least 5 generations under my belt from the said birds with the color i am looking for, but I am definetly going the correct direction, The test mating has payed off and i have an excellent idea of who produces what with who color and type, I must say it is very exciting for me, I am planning on taking some of my cockerels to the seminationals is arizona in february, Looking forward to that very much!! The main thing right now is the heat down here I am keeping my birds hydrated, lots of extra moist goodies, bananna, scrambled eggs, etc and going to start hatching again in about 5 weeks!! I have one pullet I am going to let go that is a pure white pullet she is really nice, I shoul dkeep her and show her in the white class in AZ but if I can find a 4h kid or someone that wants a white to show I will let her go for a good $, She will not breed true white, one cross i had in the test mating, consistantly threw several whites per batch, Bill had one pullet from the cross my friend Pattie has several of them and I have one more pullet!! Joey your chicks are looking nice, I just love that hen of yours, she is beautiful. We are going to have to meet up some time and go over out thoughts again soon!! At this point my flock is closed to more blood, My test mating is complete and i am going to see what the next few years bring. I have Three fantastic roos from Grady and a total of 5 excellent hens from him, along with their first generation offspring!!

If you do try to rehome this roo he would be considered a "special needs" fellow. It would have to be disclosed and if you could find a person that wanted an indoor pet he would be good for that....Is he a friendly fellow at all?
