Hello we have a male duck called Belle. He is aggressive only to one of our female ducks. We have two females and one male. He won’t even let the female duck into the house when sleeping. We think that the male duck has partnered with the other female but does this mean he will be so aggressive to the other. Please help!

We are positive as we have seen it happen several times and it can happen for long periods. The female is just a bit over 7 months and the male is just a bit over 6 months. Thanks for replying.

I have a male Pekin who is overly aggressive to one of my girls too. It comes in spurts - not all the time - he just has days where he chases her and not the others. I don't know why b/c then they will cuddle in the house together sometimes too. You could try a little separation for a while - separate the male then maybe he'll appreciate her more when he's back with the girls.

My Male (mallard) ALWAYS hates her! I don’t know why though. I don’t think we could separate the Male due to may reasons. Is there anything else to calm him down? He literally chases her like a dog. Sometimes only if we are looking he stops but as soon as he thinks we’re not he starts again. Due to this, my girl now eats earlier because the male goes in the pool then eats and when he eats she quickly goes into the pool. I don’t want her not socialising though. The other female likes her but she is always with the male so they can’t really play together.

Mallard derived drakes can be strange. Some form strong pair bonds and want only the one mate (until, unless they go broody) and others will accept and mate with any hen in sight. In my experience @CrystaBub 's response provides the only solution.

Everybody.... The female laid an egg. Is it possible that the Male was being aggressive due to mating towards her? Or could it just be an egg not by mating. I’m so confused but so excited!
