Male duck killed, where to buy one in Southern California

Hi -- not sure where this post will end up -- I may be in your area in one or two weeks with a male pekin. Please call/text me if you want to talk about it.

Any luck finding a new drake? Have you checked craigslist. Drakes aren't needed so many people don't want them. Have you tried the facebook rescue?

I beg to differ on drakes aren't needed, my flock of ducks love their drakes and look to them as leaders. I kinda like them too.

I didn't mean to be offensive. I just meant that ducks can lay eggs without drakes, therefore people who are keeping them for eggs and eventual meat don't require drakes.

I didn't take it that way at all, I just think drakes, roosters get a bad break and they are needed in the flock. I do realize some because of varying cicumstances can't have them though or choose not to.

I have heard they are both very protective of the ladies which is probably why it was the drake who died while the ducks were safe.

How are things going? I found out that there two Pekins at the Orange County shelter, but I don't know what gender they are. I think at least one of them is a male.
