You are right Lydia, I knew I had read that somewhere before. So smell has nothing to do with it? Just wondering why they attack the goose and not the duck.

Probably familiarity. The female duck is relatively new yes? But they know the goose.
Just a thought.
Good luck rehoming the boys should y'all choose to. Think the female duck and goose could be good buds.

Those males are just bags of hormones with legs! Anyone who has ducks and has seen how roughly male ducks mate, knows this is true. Personally, it is the only real thing I dislike about the species.

Not sure why you hate Drakes so much? You post that reply every time.
Not all Drakes are hard on Hens...Misinformation....

I have just had rotten luck with drakes. And I have an innate dislike of bullies, so I must magnify the drakes' behavior. And from my personal experience, ALL of my drakes have been hard on the females. I'd just love to have a couple of more gentle and friendly drakes. Sorry for my bias.

I see....Your Hen to Drake ratio must of been wrong?
During Breeding season my Drakes are confined with the Hens they are to breed or in a separate pen...

Yes, I do say the same thing every time, because it has been my experience with ALL the drakes I've ever had. So for me, this is not misinformation. Is there anyone here who can deny that drakes have highly hormonal sexual behaviors, and can be quite rough on the hens?
I would just love to have a couple of drakes who are more gentle and less rough on the females. id also like to see some duck people here help me to see that drakes are not what I keep saying they are. Saying that I am spreading misinformation is a pretty forward thing to say! And rude.
My ratio has always been one male to four (or more) females.
