Male Mallard Won't Go in Coop at night. New Behavior.

I have a female Duck who will go in at night and sit on the eggs she and my two chickens have laid in the same nest area they made with hay. Usually she and the male duck sleep on the other side of the coop not near the eggs. Since she does this he won't come in the coop at night. Like he's been kicked out of the bedroom? I can't catch him. I may have to get a net. But why this behavior? I have to lock everyone in and he's odd man out and I don't want him eaten.
I remove the eggs daily. Any advice greatly appreciated.

If it is really warm out your drake may not want to go in . My drake try’s to stay out sometimes too
