Male or female and what breed

Can you get your hands on the bird easily or is it a bit flighty? It might help to hold the bird, use a piece of contrasting (ie white) paper under a layer of the saddle and hackle feathers and snap a picture so we can see the feathers more clearly - may be best done with two people

Or, even just get the bird in the best natural lighting possible to take some good close pics of the feathers so that flash, etc isn't in play to create more glare than naturally occurs with the black feathers.
 
This chicken that I've been taking pictures of came from the local fare the kids wanted playing the goldfish game so there's no telling what breed it is
