male or female rowan duck???

You have to see if your ducks starts honking or rasping. Usually the girls start honking at 4 weeks or so. The feathers might be deceiving because males always look like females when their feathers first come in and then they gradually get their male markings.

they're both the same age the dark one honks/quacks more than the Pekin.. the pekin (white one) just peeps and chirps.

If one is honking and the other is not honking just peeping, you probably have one female and male. The one that is still chirping is probably the male.

Actually hens also have a sheen, the black is a structural color (actually a drake'a head is black, it's feather structure that reflects different wavelengths of light). I think it's a female.
