I have no idea what a "spiked up beak" would be but that is, without a doubt, a cockerel chick. A female doesn't have comb growth like that until she's nearing laying age.

Alas, that guy turned into a jerk to the hens. They were starting to hide from him because he was randy beyond belief and wouldn't give them any peace. He bared all six so I brought in three more. He loved one, halfway tolerated one, murdered one. He had to go after that. But, he was a looker.

The father of my white one I had to separate from my hens because he was mating with them too much. Mostly 4 of them are his favorites. The poor things look horrible.
