Mallard Duck - foot splint?

I've kept chickens before, but a friend gave me a mallard duck he found that has a broken foot - it appears broken on the middle toe. He refuses to put weight on it, and also does not seem to be flying. All the rehabbers I've talked to aren't taking birds right now due to flu...

Suggestions?



Edit: went ahead and splinted it for now with tiny pieces of wood wrapped in waterproof tape and gave him a "shoe" made of styrofoam.

Are there any scabs on the bottom of the foot? Any pictures? Here are some float splints for ducks that you pad and attach with tape or vet wrap strips:

No scabs on the bottom of either foot. I'll try and get a picture today of the foot with the probable fracture that I splinted up.
