Usually it is frowned upon, but u said the eggs were old. I think if they were that old there would be a blood ring instead of veining. I would, if i were you, and going to keep it, msrk the sides with an x and an o to mske sure the egg doesnt rest on the same side every night. Uneven number of hand turning...which u seem to be aware of. Stabilize your temp. Other than thst read up on humidity and maybe compare your egg to a duck egg ptogress chart so you know when to go on lockdown. Also kerp in mind its one egg and these are very social creatures...will you be able to give it a friend after hatch? There are alot of things to consider
Asa matter of fact, my dad does own a golf course, the place where it will grow up along with other ducks it’s age, and can the float test kill an egg?

Im sure it could...especially if the shell is pourous...kinda drown it maybe? And as pyxis said, usually only done with late hatchers, but unreliable...candling is the way to go

Lol love you too...

This could give you an idea of what day you are on...try to keep humidity around 55%, and red ranger is right...you cant release a duckling into the wild. You will have to brood it first...with minimal handling and techniques to teach it to survive in the wild. I can hrlp you look those up as well. Its whatever you decide...no pressure

I have been looking at those and still don’t know which ones mine, and really wanna get my hands on a real candler, and my egg seems to look a little bit different from the rest.

I think because its veined in one side...u rotating should help...if i had to hazard a GUESS, id sayday 16-18 if not a few earlier. Just need to work on getting the veining all over, so the duckling doesnt stick to one side. Did you see any movement when candled?
I have a cheap candler n it sucked so i took a flashlught, high lums, n duck taped a toilet paper cardbiard to it, then wrapped aluminum foil around it...i would then balance, carefully, the egg on said hillbilly ingenuity and place my phone flashlight on top...worked wonders

Did u get the temp stabilized?

The temp is pretty much stabilized, but I just cannot find any movement through the egg!
