Mallard molting?

Hi everyone,

We are new to duck raising. I believe our male mallard is molting but just wanted to make sure. Any thoughts?

Looks like he's going into eclipse plumage. Perfectly normal. Also, I'm not sure what he is, but he's not a Mallard.

They aren't mallards, they are a different breed of heavy duck (also known as a standard sized duck).

Hello. He is going into eclipse. He will look like a Hen for a couple of months before he gets his nuptial feathers back.

Yep, he's molting, but I'll go in the other direction given the time of year and say he is molting into his nuptial plumage. I also agree that they are not mallards.
