It's hard to tell know, go by their voices. Females will make a loud quack when excited, and males will make a raspy quack much more often, but quieter.
Actually, I believe they are mallards, they just have had a big meal. They only have one eyestripe and are very lean. You have rouens not mallards
Quote: I wouldn't call that lean I would call that obese. Their crops are very low hanging and they have a very large keel, or "lobes", which isn't caused by just one large meal, but by a very unhealthy diet, my apologies for calling them rouens they are just very overweight, leading to the rouen suspicion.
I don't mean that they are exactly lean for Mallards, I meant they are way to lean to be Rouens. It probably would be best if they dropped some weight, but I'm glad to see no angel wing on them.I wouldn't call that lean I would call that obese. ,I dont like mine to fly so I give them the show-mans wing clip, but I what I do know is that conditioning any bantam breed for any type of flight can be done by giving them a flight pen/aviary is an amazing way for them to train for long distance flights. I have seen it done with mandarins and it seemed to work great.![]()
