I candled several duck eggs yesterday and one had an air cell on its side. @JaeG @WVduckchick @MGG @shawluvsbirds
Here are some pictures of it:

Also, what are these yellow dots inside this egg? (it's a different egg)

I have the same thing with a cockatiel egg I'm incubating (the hen decided to start laying in another nest while her mate sat on the eggs in their first nest, so I removed the second nest and will hopefully return the almost hatched eggs to the original nest once they are closer to hatching so as not to disturb the dad). I'm just going to see how it goes. The air cell sometimes becomes detached due to being knocked then settles in a different spot.

I think those lighter spots on the last egg there are areas where the egg shell is a bit thinner.

Thank you so much! Will the duckling find the air cell?

Hopefully it will. It's amazing how big the air cell gets when it draws down so hopefully it will be big enough to sort of be in the right position by the time it gets that big. Hopefully some one else with a big more experience in the 'odd air cell position' department can help you out a little more.

Do keep us updated and I'll let you know how my little egg goes (if it gets that far) as it will hatch in about 2 weeks if it survives.

I’ve had the occasional lop-sided air cell. I remember one that I cut about an inch piece of a toilet paper roll, and sat the egg in it with the fat end of the egg elevated and was able to encourage the air cell to migrate upward a little. I still turned the egg, I just always had the fat end higher.

Oh, that's a good idea. I will try doing that today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow).

@JaeG @WVduckchick, the air cell started to migrate a little bit up!
Will this cause malopostion because the egg is upside down?
How do you mean upside down? Eggs should be positioned with the fat end up and even when they lie on their side the fat end is slightly elevated.

I don't think it will cause a malposition - that tends to happen more with eggs that might be a little damaged in shipping, or eggs that are disturbed when the chick/duckling is moving into the hatching position (during lockdown).

Oh, sorry of I confused you. I meant the way @WVduckchick told me to put the egg.

Ok, that's good to know.
