The little chicken nuggets are about 3 weeks old and starting to loose their cute fluff. Mama Fuzz is doing great, we still have all 9 babies. Starting to be able to see some differences in them. I cannot wait to see them feathered out! Its going to be fun guessing what mixes hatched.

Well this is not a happy update. We lost 2 chicks today. Not sure what happened exactly. When I went outside to check on everybody, Mama Fuzz was in distress and I only counted 6 babies with her. I started looking around and found 1 baby alone in the tree line so took it back to Mama. We searched and searched, could not locate the missing 2. I think they got spooked and ran for cover in the tree line and somehow some got seperated.
I said to myself from the beginning, even before hatch, that I was going to let Mama do the work and let it be as natural as possible. Well I guess this is part of it. They are a free range flock and they make their own decisions. But, Im still very very sad and my heart aches. I know Mama Fuzz does a good job and I can only imagine how hard it is to keep track of 9 little chicken nuggets who are starting to want to explore. I am still hoping the 2 missing will reappear today but its awfully cold/windy and Im not going to get my hopes up too much.
