Mama hatched 2 chix of ? breed

as they were eggs I pulled, last minute, from a pile laid in barn. I THINK 1 may have been hers(and the 1 chic looks barred rock as mama is BR(and probable dad too,he's the dominant roo out of 2) and other chic hatched out yellow so don't know what it may be yet. Theres another egg not hatched and learned from past year hatch to leave her on them for a few days after initial hatch. Only have pic of possible BR chic(and even in the pic you can see some silver coloring thru its back so that makes me think possibly NOT all BR?)anyhoo-was a different hatching experience this time.

I have not had the knowledge that its possible to tell sex from birth with BR's. Is that possible? Sure would be nice to have females but usually can't tell for a few weeks(I DID have a purchased Black Australorp cockerel that exhibited boy behavior at 5 days old tho!)

It isn't a guarentee lke with sex links but for the most part any barred bird that has a big sloppy headspot in NORMALLY a male and one with a small neat headspot is NORMALLY a female.

OK! And "she" MAY have other breed in her just going with the possibilities.
