Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

:lau   Now THERE'S a word I've not heard a coon's age!!!  I think "swanky" needs to make a comeback!  Just sounds good to say it, don't it?  SWANKY

:lau   By golly, Miss Bee, I think you and Shanandgem may have hit on something huge here!!  Since so many things we used to say all the time now have extremely different definitions than they did when they were part of our everyday vocabulary, we need to be a force for protecting the good old words from distortion!

Swanky is as good a place to start as I can think of!!

Yes!!! :gig :lau

COChix, its actually a guinea pig cage. I can post the link to the seller off ebay in you like. It was 50 buck to my house. Theres a divider included that I dont have set up. There isnt a hard bottom on it tho, that liner velcroed around it is the bottom. Its not there strong, but to move it without it sinking at the bottom need a board under it, which I have. I'm pretty happy with it. I can change the wall sections around easy enough, but I dont feel like breaking it down, however, next time I'm gonna have it to where the 2 doors are accessible at better locations.

Ok thanks good use of the cage. I like that, easy to move around.

I decided the one clear tote I have for the chicks isn't enough space after you factor in MHP, the feeder and waterer. We were going to make a tunnel for a second tote but it just seems like a pain and then I remembered I have all of these cubie grid pieces. But I can't seem to find the connectors so when we head to the store this afternoon, I am going to get zip ties to zip them together. Any suggestions for the floor covering though? It will be 8 panels long and 2 panels wide. Thought about cardboard and then the pine on top of that. Trying to use things I have laying around for the most part...

So portal wall installed.

Came back 5 minutes later and FAIL!! ....it had been breached!!

She went back thru no problem, barely a squeeze.
Checked that I had done the 5x7 @azygous used,
and well I missed by half inch..its 5.5 x7.
But still, way too big to keep bigs out.
Pretty easy fix really, but dammit!

I wanted to say, I am thrilled with the MHP... Chicks are not even a week old and are almost only going under the MHP at night. Much more cold tolerant than I thought. No pasty butt at all, and the chicks are so happy and contented! :yesss:

Now I have a question. Why doesn't everyone use this? :D
