Oh, and don't encourage @aart She's already so much smarter than me I feel like a pair of brown loafers and the rest of the world is a tuxedo.

i thought about the pipe thimg but decided on horizontal
Love it. I'm gonna try to recreate it except i have screw in vertical nipples, horizontal nipples, and saddle nipples. May need to try push in cause i want my waterer higher but dont like the ideaof hanging something that heavy
Awwww I love it

You can do the pipe thing with horizontal nipples and the cup waterers, too. I know those instructions used the push-in, but I use the screw-in kind.

! @COChix Wild? Gosh, fortunately mine didn't get the memo! :idunno :lau
What I mean is that once they move outside they become more feral. At least ours did, don't like to be held or approached. However, last year the hatched chicks, I handled a lot more and they were inside until day ten, yes with w dread heat lamp until day 4, when I stumped upon this thread. Anyway, this batch of chicks has been more natural, hatched, moved into the MHP right away and outside by day 4, they are different than last year, more independent already.
Mom's brooder is up and running. 2 lovely Wyandottes are all settled. Black looks 2 weeks, blue more like 3. Mom's been sitting with them most of the day. :)

My entire life has been overtaken by chickens.
This story has been so cute to watch and follow along, how great! Thanks for sharing.
Got 2 chicks from shipped eggs. the remaining 4... not alive. I had to assist the second one. Will know in the morning if she's gonna be a survivor. Next batch is also delayed.
Sorry about your hatch.

Your in Cheyenne right? How's the weather up there?

Hahahaha it's very wet...and white at this point. We haven't gotten much accumulation due to it being a little too warm to pile up but I'll tell you my spring seeds are really LOVING the moisture!!! I couldn't be happier to be honest! How is Colorado fairing? I've heard you all have had more accumulation.

Whereas, up here in NW MT, we have had a very nasty few days of Rain and Sleet, that is putting out a FOREST FIRE (yep already) 1100 acres right behind me in the Bob, as they say here, so I am really working on not whining...supposed to be lovely full week coming up. So the timing was amazing! Just thought I would share since we are talking weather

(Some idiot with an unextinguished campfire..)

Terry, I have those gold laced wyandottes, and they are the happiest, loveliest, friendliest medium sized NERF balls you ever saw. The Blue Laced Reds are going to be spectacular!

Ok so it has been spitting that nasty white stuff all day. This am it was slushy and cold roads slick, as the day progressed it was wet out on the road and as night came it started to stick more in our area. We probably have 6 inches, it has been very moist a lot has melted.

Those chicks have been happily spending most their day under the MHP coming out occasionally. I was able to coax them out for some warm egg mixed into their FF. Love, love, love the MHP but I am preaching to the choir right?! Actually I was thinking I could totally see having chicks earlier in the season as long as you have a dry space to brood them and they are protected from the elements.

We have 6 inches where we are, depends how it snows overnight as far as adulation goes, seems to be coming down more steady now and sticking more.
