Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Sweet!
Yep, you need longer chain......or shorten the 4 uprights (hopefully you used screws, so easy to take apart).
That rack is nice.....what size pad do you have?
Mine is 24" long so would have some hangover....but bigger piece of cardboard would take care of that.
I like the cardboard idea......would be good to remove the little pieces on the edges.
Did you cut and bend part of the rack to fashion the hooks?

Great design/prototype!!

The chain is longer, I just have it raised up right now as an example. It goes down to the top of the 2x4s laying flat on the bottom of the frame. Considering bedding and the addition of the heating pad, that should be low enough

I have the 24" long pad as well and figured some overhang wouldn't be too bad. Its easy enough to manipulate if need be.

This is what the rack looks like, so you can see how the hooks are already built into it.

Thank you! I do hope it works out like I am dreaming in my head LOL

It's very clever!

Just a thought, and I'm not sure how well it would work, but I read somewhere that placing a piece of foam under the bedding could help retain heat.

I would never put foam in a chicken coop. They will eat it.

It could be placed in a pillow case?

I love my Eco glow , I'm glad I have it and two heating pads. I'd place a pillow case or piece of fabric that hangs down on all three sides so it's like a cave ... it will keep it warmer but make sure there are two exits . My 21 chicks were under the heating cave made from half a tomato cage and the Eco glow with a towel connecting them , but they could get out the front and the back so no one gets trampled

Ah...didn't see the extra chain at the top.
But why so tall?
Nice rack...got a link?
Can't wait to see it in action!

So tall for two reasons, the main one being that my scrap wood pieces worked out that way  The second being that it can double as a roost for them as they start getting more adventurous. It'll make the cardboard topper a mess, but hey, it's version 1!

This will be their permanent home. Thanks to my father and pictures from a lot of other coops in the forums, we were able to create a nice final product.lOVE
Love the coop! What are the dimensions? Im only interested because I like the way you did your roosts and poop board and would maybe like to do something similar in my coop. Can you reach the poop board to clean without climbing into the coop? Great job all around!
