Thank you for updating on your broody hen - I was actually just thinking about your story yesterday and wondering how they were doing but couldn't/didn't want to scroll back through this whole thread for your original post!! Lol

If you set it up like what you'll see about halfway down the page I'll link for you, you won't have that issue. I didn't either, covering it with a towel covered in Press 'n Seal. Good luck! I'll give you link to the pad and to the best setup...remember that when this thread started, I was still in the learning process myself and there have been modifications in the journey. One of them was the way Beekissed sets hers up, and wouldn't you know she'd been doing that way all along - and I first learned it from her, too. <smacks head>Thanks, I might buy both sizes and see what works. Is there a link to the right one? I see an express heat in large. Is that the right one? It looks like it has a fuzzy cover and I worry about them pecking at it.
awww sweet, thank you.Thank you for updating on your broody hen - I was actually just thinking about your story yesterday and wondering how they were doing but couldn't/didn't want to scroll back through this whole thread for your original post!! Lol
How cold is too cold? The downstairs studio I plan to keep the brooder in, is currently in the low 20s. I've placed a bottle of water with the MHP on high (6) in the brooder to see if it freezes overnight. Only other option is to keep it in the laundry room which is heated to prevent pipe freeze. Although bears have broken into the laundry room to get our trash, before getting the bear resistant trash can. So, I'd feel safer keeping them in the studio.
Chicks were suppositively shipped today (still no tracking info), should be here "before Friday".
You'd better! Photos of chicks and setups are your dues in the Broody Brigade!![]()
